BMS Helps Veterans Celebrate Veterans Day
The Home of the Brave campaign was established by Hewlett Packard employees in 2012 to thank veterans for their service through patient visits at VA Medical Centers and by employee donations of basic items, such as toiletries and clothing. Bristol Myers Squibb signed on as a company partner in 2013 to offer our employees the opportunity to support Home of the Brave’s mission to honor the sacrifices of those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
This year BMS & HP visited the Lyons, NJ health care facility on Veteran’s Day and participated in a Paint Fest with the residents. Pre-stenciled ceiling tiles were available to paint and will be hung around the facility so the Veterans can see their artistic work on a daily basis. The volunteers helped the veterans choose their tiles; provide paint & snacks and a few even painted ceiling tiles!
It was a wonderful experience talking with our veterans. Some served only a few years, and others longer, but all changed their lives and their family’s lives forever.
The event was co-chaired by Laura Mangiapane and Caren Villano, Drug Safety Evaluation (DSE/VS) and Ronald Karg, Space Planning. The BMS participants included: Jack Pinter, Darrell Drennan and Brenda Procassini (GMS), Peter Koza, Site Services and Operations, Laura Shulder, Ornella Commini, Debbie DiBella, Steven Nicotra, (DSE/VS), Shawn Drennan, Finance, and Gary Yourman, IT. Hewlett Packard was also represented by: James Holzer, Manny Cirne and Alice Seeley.
This is truly a very rewarding event – we hope more individuals are able to join us next year!
